Defining the Process to Lose Fat - Part I

6 pack abs, Cardio, Fat Loss, Nutrition, lose belly fat, lose stomach fat, weight loss 67 Comments »

In the last article, you read about how 2 coaches with the same goal took 2 different approaches…

One focused on the end result… and failed miserably.

The other focused on the process it took to achieve the end result, and acheived it with RECORD BREAKING SPEED.

So, we’re gonna dive into the first part of picking this process apart and use it to lose fat.

I believe the first and the most important thing for us to do requires us going through a 2 step process:

1) Set a specific long term goal, and define what it takes to accomplish it. Here’s an example:

I want to Have a Flat Stomach by June 1st. In order to do this, I’ll need to lose 23 pounds of fat.

2) Set your first short term goal. Since the long term goal is 4 months out, the 1st short term goal will be 4 weeks out.

Here’s an example: Today is January 24th, In 4 weeks on February 20th, I want to lose 7 pounds of fat.

The idea here is to split the long term goal into small consumable, realistic action steps that we can watch, track, and tweak.

IMPORTANT

Once we’ve set the long term goal, we put it in the back of our minds and FORGET ABOUT IT.

At this point, the long term goal doesn’t matter anymore. As long as we focus on achieving the short term goals, and actually achieve them, the End Result will automatically materialize by default - without ever having to even think about it again.

So, what we’ll focus on from this point forward is our short 4 week goal: Losing 7 Pounds. Once we get to February 20th, we’ll sit down, and set the next short term goal, and go forward.

This is the absolute most important part of losing fat, breaking it down in chunks… that you can actually SEE and FEEL working immediately.

In the end, all the “little chunks” will add up, and at the very least put us AT our end goal.

That’s part 1.

Part 2 is Diving into the actual process of losing the first 7 pounds and achieving the first 4 week goal.

I want to show you a simple example that we can all relate to, and break down the process…

Washing Dirty Clothes/Doing Laundry

The goal is to have a clean dry set of clothes in 120 minutes.

Here’s the Process:

1. Gather our clothes
2. Put Detergent into the washing machine
3. Set washing machine to run
4. Put clothes into the washing machine
5. Close Top of washing machine
6. When finished, transfer clothes to dryer
7. Set Dryer to 60 minutes
8. Close Dryer Door
9. Push start button

In roughly 120 minutes, we’ll have clean clothes.

Now, Had we laid in bed just thinking about how we want our clothes to be clean, it wouldn’t have gotten done…

Had we set the goal and skipped ANY 1 step in the 9 step process, we would have failed.

Now I know this is a silly example, but you get the point. Each little process had to be completed, and once they’re all added up, we have a new set of clean clothes.

The same is true when we’re trying to lose fat. We lay out a step-by-step system to lose 7 pounds of fat in 4 weeks, and we follow it from one step to the next…

So, the next step in the process is to actually lay out a step by step plan to lose the first 7 pounds during the next 4 Weeks… And then follow it.

I’ll be more than happy to dive deeper into this in my next blog post, but before I do, I want to make sure you want this information…

So, you can let me know you want me to go into it further by leaving a comment below.

** If we receive 25+ comments, I’ll go ahead and discuss how to break down
the step by step plan to lose your first 7 pounds, and what you need to focus on
to get it done. If Not, we’ll move on. Cool?

The Secret to Losing Fat

Ab Exercises, Ab Training, Cardio, Fat Loss, Motivation, Nutrition, lose belly fat, lose stomach fat 20 Comments »

I just got back from doing some cardio up at the gym about 20 minutes ago… One thing I LOVE about the “long-slow” cardio is that it sort of takes me away from everything and allows me to do some thinking..

Some of you may not know this, but I’m a college football fanatic. Doesn’t matter who’s playing, I’ll watch. Just love it.

So, I’ve got a little story for you that has EVERYTHING to do with Losing-Fat, and something you can use RIGHT now to achieve your goals, so stay with me (I’ll try to keep it short)…

Onward…

5 Years ago Charlie Weis Took over the football program at Notre Dame - a high powered program.

3 years ago Nick Saban took over the football program at the University of Alabama - another school that has a history of dominance.

Both Notre Dame & Alabama have a long history of success, but have sputtered miserably in the past decade.

And both Coaches have had a tremendous amount of success at their previous coaching jobs, so they were both seen by their respective fan base & their schools as the Man to bring the program back to dominance.

Both had 1 Goal:

Win the College Football National Championship.

Charlie Weis went in at Notre Dame with Big Dreams, and often talked about how good “next year” is going to be, how they were improving, and LOVED talking about how he was going to turn his program around and bring a National Championship back to his school.

Charlie focused on the end goal, win a National Championship.

He was their “Savior”, and he knew it.

Nick Saban went in at Alabama, despised talking about lofty goals, didn’t want to talk about “Next Year”, and would frown and cuss anytime someone brought up this “National Title” talk.

He was their “Savior”, and he didn’t care.

In 5 years, Charlie Weis achieved one of the worst coaching records in Notre Dame’s history. And despite striving for the ultimate end goal, he failed miserably - he was fired just a few weeks ago.

In 3 years, Nick Saban took over a struggling program, had 2 undefeated seasons, and won the National Championship for Alabama in Year 3, just one week ago.

Here’s Nick Saban after the National championship game last week:

“We had a goal at the beginning of the year, and to achieve that goal we just needed to focus on the process on how to achieve that goal.”

Nick Saban focused on his team passing, tackling, running, and catching better than the opponent.

One coach focused on the end goal… and failed.

The other coach focused on the Process to achieve the end goal… and not only achieved it, but achieved it with unrelenting dominance.

WHAT THIS HAS TO DO WITH LOSING-FAT

The road to success that you will encounter this year in losing-fat will ultimately come down to the fact that you had a goal and a clear and concise strategy on how to achieve that goal.

Nick Saban’s focus on running, tackling, and passing better than his opponent to reach his end goal is VERY Similar to us having to focus on

-nutrition,

- working out, and

-doing cardio to reach our end goal of losing-fat

So I ask you….

Are you focusing on the”processes” to burn fat? And if so what are you doing to focus on it?

Please leave your comments below, cool?

Can You Out Train a Bad Diet?

Ab Exercises, Cardio, Fat Loss, Nutrition, lose belly fat, lose stomach fat, weight loss No Comments »

You may or may not have seen the controversy raging through the web about whether or not you can “Out Train” a bad diet….

Most experts say you can’t.

And they’re right to a certain degree….

- If a person is trying to get their BF% into the single digits..

- If they’re heading down the last 3-4 week stretch before a
fitness competition…

- If they’re trying to lose the last 5 to 10-lbs….

Then these experts are dead on the money, because a bad diet
will NOT be overcome by training…

But here’s where they’re dead wrong..

- if you’re not a fitness competitor, you can out train a bad diet

- if you’re not trying to get down to 3% bodyfat, you can out train a
bad diet

- if you’re trying to just simply shed fat, you can out train a bad diet

- and if you have more than 10-lbs to lose you CAN out train a bad diet..

I know this, because I’ve done it.

Yeah, you can lose more fat, and lose it faster if you train with a solid nutrition program…

But the cold hard fact is that your nutrition program Does NOT have to be 100% ON-THE-MONEY to melt your-fat.

Lots of people will think I’m crazy, and while I’m NOT encouraging you to follow a horrible nutrition program to lose-fat…

I’ll admit it’s not the best way, but It CAN be done.

Just something to think about…

Todd

P.S. Here’s an email I got from Vickie that kinda gives this statement theory some legs….
Another 3.2-lbs in 4 Days While Eating Junk Food During the Holidays

“I officially started the Vaporizor Program yesterday/Monday, July 6th (as far as the PSMF diet & taking my measurements - I still need to get a photo taken) and did Triple Fat Loss Matrix Workout #2.

However, I started the Vaporizor Workout on Friday, July 3rd at a friend’s gym using a barbell and then did the workout again at home on Sunday using dumbells. I ate a lot of junk over the Independence Holiday weekend, knowing that I would be starting the diet this week…

So from weighing in on Friday morning to this morning (Tuesday, July 7th), I have already lost 3.2lbs!

I am now so motivated to keep this up as a 52 year old single working (full-time) mom of two daughters (ages 9 &12) who keep me up late (”but Mom, it’s Summer!”) and so I don’t get my workouts in until after they are asleep (after 11pm on Sunday and after 10pm last night) and will be after 9/9:30pm tonight…

Oh, BTW, the reason I bought this program even with my $ being very tight is that I did your Triple Fat Loss Matrix Workout #4 just one time per week for 3 weeks in a row back in April (just 2 sets with 5 & 8 lb dumbells) and lost 4 lbs - that weight stayed off for a few weeks after I stopped doing any exercise but then life got really stressful and I started eating tons of junk…sigh…

The amazing thing about that 4 lb weight-loss back in April was that I only did Matrix #4 ONE day per week and only TWO sets each week - 7 minutes total per week! So working out only 3 times = a 4lb fat loss that I kept off for almost 3 weeks afterwards with a lot of emotional eating and absolutely no exercising!”

With gratitude,

Vickie

She out trained a bad nutrition program and the fat stayed off for 3 weeks after life got stressful, and she had to stop exercising and stuff… kinda neat, huh?

Both the Triple Fat Loss Matrix workouts AND the Vaporizor Method are designed specifically for that purpose, because we both know eating super healthy all the time is dang near impossible - Plus it can become a headache, here’s the story:

Burn more fat with morning cardio exercise?

6 pack abs, Cardio, Fat Loss, lose belly fat, lose stomach fat, weight loss 4 Comments »

I just finished reading a new British study that could have major implications on how many calories you burn during exercise.

According to the study, if a person exercises in the morning before their body reaches its peak temperature, you can exercise longer and more intensely…

Mainly because a cooler body delays overheating.

In the study, people riding a stationary bike in a Hot, humid room could push themselves 5.3 minutes longer at 6:45 a.m. as opposed to exercising at 6:45 p.m.

So, naturally, if you’re able to exercise longer you’ll be able to burn more calories.

And what’s even BETTER, is that the study was done in a HOT, HUMID room.

Since the temperature is usually much cooler in the morning, it can be argued that you should be able to push beyond the 5.3 additional minutes that the morning exerciser was able to perform over the afternoon exerciser.

…and burn even more calories…

So, if you’re trying to burn more fat, do you  think it might be worth it to wake up a few
minutes earlier in the morning to knock out some cardio?
